The FAO has recognized the legal protection of farmers' rights, Through the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, this was not enough, but this was not enough.

The rights of many farmers remain violated under the UPOV convention and the TRIPS agreement.

These texts recognize intellectual property rights over genetic resources without any recognition of farmers' rights.

Therefore, any national law that stands in the way of farmers' rights must be amended.

In addition, the provisions of the UPOV convention on Farmers' Privileges, as well as the provisions of the article 27.

3 (b) of the TRIPS agreement, should be amended in line with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, particularly with respect to the protection of Farmers' Rights and their traditional knowledge.
