The functional direction deals mainly with the usage, method of the language, and its communicative value, based on the pragmatic dimension of the language as a mean of communication.

So the functional direction links the linguistical system with the way how this system applies the meanings performance, where the functionalists respect the different semantic forms of the speech, in view of the context, focusing on the necessity of linking the language with the social structure.

The methodological principles mentioned in Al-Kitab of SIBAWAYH are similar in many ways to the ones that control the contemporary linguistic functional lesson this, what I am going to clarify in the present research paper.
