Abstract EN

The current study sought to identify the evaluation of the teaching competencies of the university professor from the student’s point of view, as well as to reveal the statistically significant differences, if any, in the degree of the university professor’s possession of teaching competencies from the students’ sview point attributable to the variable of specialization and the variable of academic level.

To achieve the study’s objectives, the descriptive approach was used.

Where the research tool was built, represented in the questionnaire consisting of 51 paragraphs, distributed on five dimensions (competencies related to the personality of the professor, competencies related to educational goals, competencies related to teaching methods, competencies related to scientific research for students, and competencies related to evaluation), the questionnaire was applied to a sampleconsisting of 163 students, at the universities of Saida and Sidi Bellabes in Algeria ,who were chosen randomly.The study data was processed using the statistical package for social sciences using: arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and T-test for two independent samples.

The results of the study concluded that the teachingcompetencies of the university professor from the point of view of the students was above average, and that there are statistically significant differences in the possession of the teaching competencies of the university professor from the view point of students due to the variable of specialization, and that there are no statistically significant differences in the possession of the teaching competencies of the university professor from the students point of view is attributed to the variable of the academic level.

The study came out with a set of recommendations, the most important are: developing a guide for teaching competencies, and not instructing the university professor to teach courses outside of his specialization, and setting up mechanisms to take advantage of the evaluation results to develop the teaching skills of the university professor.
