Transition words are linguistic means that have to highlight the grammatical relations between sentence components or between sentences to understand the discourse in general.

This article focuses on verbal clues as it is distinguished from all other clues in the way it creates syntactic relationship between sentence components or between sentences.

It, also, focuses on the modernists' view of this transitions to find out the most important means used by language for gramatical linking and consistency of discourse.
