The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is one of themajor projects launched by the African Union.

This isaftercompleting the quorum of ratifications by African countries and Implementation of the agreement, .

It came within the works of the "African Agenda 2063", as the agreement aims to increase intra-trade amongmember states and enhance the competitiveness of industry in Africa by removingtariff and non-tariff barriers.

The success of Activation the African Continental Free Trade Area willalsobenefit economic development in Africa in general, and an essential step towards establishing a common Africanmarket and issuing a single currency, in accordance with the Abuja Agreement and the Constitutive Agreement of the African Union.

This research paper show the most important advantages and opportunities that couldbeprovided by establishing this region for African countries, and the most important challenges thatcould stand in the way of building this continental commercial space.

La zone de libre-échange continentale africaine (ZLECA) est l'un des projets primordiaux lancée par l'Union africaine, et ce après avoir atteint le quorum des ratifications des états africains et l'entrée en vigueur de l'accord, Cet accord fait partie de l'ordre du jour « Agenda africain 2063 » Ledit accord tend à développer les échanges commerciaux intra-régionaux entre les états membres et à renforcer la compétitivité industrielle en Afrique en supprimant les obstacles tarifaires et non tarifaires, En outre, la réussite à la concrétisation de cette idée aura des effets très bénéfiques sur la croissance économique d'un marché africain commun ainsi que l'émission d'une monnaie unique, conformément au traité d'Abuja et à l'acte constitutif de l'Union africaine.

Dans le présent article, il sera mis en exergue les avantages et les opportunités que la création de cette zone peut offrir aux états africains ainsi que les défis et les obstacles que peuvent entraver la création de cet espace commercial continental.
