The aim of this study is to identify the extent to which university professors depends on social networking sites as a source of information, and the effects of their dependency.

To achieve this we used the survey methodology and questionnaire as a tool.

The study concluded that most of the respondents depends on social networking sites as a source of information, The most important effects of their dependency were to facilitate the process of communication, made me closer to my family and friends, helped me to relax and the elimination of vacuum.
