Financial Derivatives financial contracts is derived from the value of the asset to replace the contract initially appeared to hedge risks and maximize profits, but that the substantial development of these tools as well as the widening of the scope of the deal led to the occurrence of crises, the most prominent of mortgage.

This study aims to highlight the role of financial derivatives in the emergence of the 2007 – 2008 mortgage crisis.the analytical descriptive approach to this topic will be followed.

The study reached a series of results, the most important of which are : the widespread use of derivatives contracts that have had a negative impact on the countrary of the expectations of the dealers, resulting in losses at the level of financial institutions as well as financial derivatives were the main cause of the outbreak the mortgage crisis.
