Pasteurized milk prices are among the cheapest in the world due to the consumption subsidy policy that led to many negative effects on the national economy (excessive domestic consumption, increased import bill and volume of subsidies, weakened competition, ).

In light of the inability of domestic production of natural milk to meet the demand, the milk industry remains hostage to the policies of subsidized consumption and the heavy dependence on imports of milk powder.

This study aims, on the one hand, to analyze the problem of support policies by the state in the milk sector and its impact on those involved in the sector's value network.

On the other hand, we seek through this article to highlight the impact of the liberalization of pasteurized milk prices on the development of the milk industry in Algeria.

The results obtained indicate that the gradual liberalization of prices according to an integrated and balanced strategy will have positive effects on the national economy and contribute to the development of the milk division.
