The news coverage of Islam phobia phenomenon in the West in the Egyptian electronic press: An analytical study



The research problem of the study is determined in monitoring the nature of news treatment of Islam phobia news in the Egyptian electronic newspapers, and to determine the news frames used in the formulation of these news, and to determine the relationship between newspaper ownership and its political ideology with the news framing.

The study aims to analyze and define news framing used and methods of the presentation of the Islam phobia issues in the electronic newspapers under study in addition to identifying the main actors used in those electronic websites.

The study uses the media survey method in order to conduct an analytical study of the electronic newspapers under study, In addition to the comparative approach, to compare and interpret the websites.

The data collection tool is the news framing analysis tool, The results revealed that both Al-Ahram and Al-Masry Al-Youm used reports due to the nature of the topics related to the phenomenon of Islam phobia, which needs to monitor and interpret the phenomena related to it and its causes, with a percentage of 69.1% and 77 % respectively.

As for the news frames used, the conflict frame was the most used, at 54.5% and 36.6% , which is due to the nature of issues related to Islam phobia, where the conflict prevailed over those issues
