Suffering in a psychiatric environment takes many forms and affects both the patient and the caregiver.
When it affects the latter, we often refer to burnout, which is sometimes misunderstood, underestimated or even paradoxical in these care structures that treat psychic suffering.
My practice in the psychiatric environment as a medical specialist allowed me to see this suffering with my colleagues and to try to decrypt it from a sociological angle other than medical.
In this article, we expose a sociological survey based on a qualitative study, conducted in the psychiatric hospital of Sidi Chami of Oran, Algeria, during the year 2016.
And this, with the objective of analyzing the psychiatric burnout and the search for potential determinants of the genesis of this suffering at work.

La souffrance en milieu psychiatrique prend plusieurs aspects et touche à la fois le soigné et le soignant.
Quand elle touche ce dernier, on fait référence souvent à l'épuisement professionnel ou dit le burnout, qui reste parfois méconnu, sous-estimé, voir paradoxal dans ces structures de soins qui traite la souffrance psychique.
Mon exercice en milieu psychiatrique en tant que médecin spécialiste, m'a permis de voir cette souffrance auprès de mes collègues et d'essayer de la décrypter sous un angle sociologique autre que médical.
Dans cet article, nous exposons une enquête sociologique basée sur une étude qualitative, réalisée à l'établissement hospitalier spécialisé (EHS) en psychiatrie de Sidi Chami d'Oran, Algérie, au cours de l'année 2016.
Et ce, en ayant comme objectif l'analyse de l'épuisement professionnel en milieu psychiatrique et la recherche des déterminants potentiels de la genèse de cette souffrance au travail.
