Abstract EN

This study deals with the Spanish migration to Algeria between 1492 and 2010, and it aims also to shed light on the relations that characterized the two countries (Algeria and Spain) during this long period of time as well as the results and developments.

it has as objective to review the ideological principles, economic considerations and expansionist goals of Spain in the western Mediterranean basin since the beginning of the 16th century leading us to answer the following questions: - what was the role played by Algerians in receiving the migrants from Spain and how did they welcome them? - what marked the Spanish-Algerian relations before the fall of Granada? - what were the factors that led to the Spanish immigration to Algeria? - what was the activity of the Spanish migrants to Algeria before the French occupation? - what was the position of the French occupation authorities vis-à-vis the Spanish community? - did the waves of Spanish settlers have any impact on the lives of Algerians ̶ linguistically, culturally and economically? these are some of the questions that this paper will try to answer in depth to identify the political, economic and strategic implications of this migration.
