Abstract EN

The research deals with the element of initiation and its functional roles in building the Anecdoteas a traditional narrative pattern dealingwith the phenomenon of miserliness in its psychological and social dimensions.

The element of initiation has been manipulated in two dimensions.

The first one aims to disclose the ways of persuasive and rhetorical media and techniques in editing initiation.

The second one aims to explain the modalities of acquiescence thatis the outcome of these media and techniques, intending to explain the structural and functional importance of initiation, itsrole in building the argument to receive the content of the issues, and its effect on the coherence of the discourse by explaining the faces of its connections with the following from the central text.

To conclude with the following important results; emphasizing on the centrality of initiation for Al-Jahezin formulating his anecdotes, and diversification of its types that contribute to building the argument, with the aim of raising the recipient and attracting him in favor of the presented issues.
