The high flexibility and tight accuracyrequirements of today's spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems requireinnovative technologies to calibrate and process the SARimages.

To perform accurate pattern correction duringSAR processing, an Antenna Model is used to derive themultitude of different antenna beams generated by activeantenna steering.

The application of such an AntennaModel could be successfully demonstrated for theTerraSAR-X mission, launched in 2007.

The methodologyand the results of the inorbit verification with an achievedaccuracy of better than ±0.2 dB is reviewed in this paperin detail showing its outstanding accuracy.
