This article attempts to explain the corelation between arms trafficking and the failed states in the Sahelian region.
In doing so, we have delineated the definitional scope of the term "failed state" and studied the impact of arms trafficking on the stability of the region.
These analytical perspectives will be transposed through a study of the Malian conflict, which seems to represent the archetype of the failed state overwhelmed by the regional geopolitical situation and having difficulty in dealing with arms trafficking and its repercussions.

Le présent article tente d'expliquer la corrélation qui existe entre le trafic d'armes et les Etats présentés comme défaillants dans la région sahélienne.
En cela, nous avons balisé le champ définitionnel du terme « Etat failli » et étudié l'impact du trafic d'armes sur la stabilité de la région.
Ces perspectives d'analyse seront transposées à travers une étude du conflit malien qui semble représenter l'archétype de l'Etat défaillant débordé par la conjoncture géopolitique régionale et faisant difficilement face au trafic d'armes et à ses répercussions.
