On Monotonic and Nonnegative Solutions of a Nonlinear Volterra-Stieltjes Integral Equation

We study the existence of monotonic and nonnegativesolutions of a nonlinear quadratic Volterra-Stieltjes integralequation in the space of real functions being continuous on abounded interval.

The main tools used in our considerations arethe technique of measures of noncompactness in connection with thetheory of functions of bounded variation and the theory ofRiemann-Stieltjes integral.

The obtained results can be easilyapplied to the class of fractional integral equations andVolterra-Chandrasekhar integral equations, among others.
