الملخص EN

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic autoimmune disease which produces symptoms varying from very mild to life-threatening conditions, with unpredictable exacerbation and remission and protean clinical manifestations.

We report a 13 year old female patient who was admitted with arthritis and heart murmur, diagnosed to have rheumatic carditis, which was treated with aspirin, and developed hepatic toxicity.

Subsequently she was found to have systemic lupus erythematosus.

We recommend the use of aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with caution in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
