الملخص EN

Megalourethra is a rare congenital mesenchymal anomaly of the male anterior urethra.

Congenital megalourethra is usually associated with additional urinary tract and other system anomalies irrespective of its type and severity.

A careful evaluation of the urinary tract is necessary to identify associated congenital anomalies.

Since its initial description, nearly 80 cases between 16 weeks gestation and 24 years of age with congenital megalourethra have been reported in the English literature.

We are reporting a case of congenital scaphoid megalourethra in a male newborn with a prenatal diagnosis of bilateral hydronephrosis and oligohydramnios.

Ultrasonogrphic and radiological studies showed bilateral hydronephrosis and dilated thickened urinary bladder wall not associated with urinary tract obstruction or vesicoureteric reflux.

The infant was successfully treated by reduction urethroplasty.

He voided with a normal stream without abnormality of the penile shaft and the patient did well and developed normally.
