The repression of the colonial authorities against the Algerians during the demonstrations of October 17, 1961 had aroused various reactions, both in terms of the national political class (in Algeria) and in France, as well as in France and internationally.

Among the reactions most noted for their quality of commentary and analysis, we find the French press; like the newspaper "the world", "humanity" on the one hand, and the audio-visual press on the other .This "media coverage of the event" reflects the French state of mind of the time; political and cultural, influencing general opinion, both French and international .In this modest contribution, I intend to do a selective critical reading for the mediapolitical treatment of the tragedy experienced by the Algerian demonstrators and its consequences for the war of liberation.

الملخص FRE

La répression des autorités coloniale à l'encontre des algériens lors des manifestations de 17 octobre1961avais suscité des réactions divers, tant sur le plan de la classe politique nationale (en Algérie) et en France que française et internationales.

Parmi les réactions les plus remarquées par leur qualité de commentaires et d'analyses, on trouve la presse française; à l'instar du journal « le monde », « l'humanité », d'une part, et la presse audio-visuelle d'autre part.

Cette « couverture médiatique à l'événement » reflète l'état d'esprit français de l'époque; politique et culturel, influençant sur l'opinion général, français et international à la fois.

Dans cette modeste contribution, je compte faire une lecture sélective critique pour le traitement médiatico-politique pour la tragédie qu'avait connait les manifestants algériens et ses conséquences sur la guerre de libération.
