Survey of balantidium coli in children of najaf governorate

After examination of fecal samples of (1350) children in four urban and rural areas in Najaf Governorate, Balantidium coli infection in about (2.14%) of children included in this study.

The infection rate differ according to region included in this study as highest infection rate was in rural areas of Najaf and the lowest in urban areas of Najaf and Kufa.

?years of age: There is no significant effect for year months on infection rate of (p<0.05) with the highest infection rate was in September.

Same efficacy of staining methods (Methyl green) and (Lugol s iodine) in the rate of parasite detection.
