Karbala has long been known for its grand status and its sacredness; having the two Imams 'Al-Hussein and Al-Abbas' (PBUT) buried in it, in addition to other religious sites and tourist centers.

In this city, many distinctive and brilliant poets have produced and recited their poems in social, political, and religious ceremonies and in the many public assemblies.

In line with this, these poets have collected their poems in particular 'divans' by themselves or by other after their death.

This paper deals with those 'divans' which are still in hands (either manuscripts or printed) and those which are lost and only their names are kept in memory.

The current study has collected in a comprehensive descriptive alphabetical bibliography 88 Karbala'i poets.

The bibliography has relied on old and modern authentic sources and references, printed 'divans' not being documented or rectified.

It is restricted to only those dead poets who wrote in the formal standard Arabic.

It also includes those influential poets who were born in Karbala, or died in Karbala, or settled in Karbala for long.

Moreover, the bibliographical information includes the following regarding each 'divan': whether manuscript or printed; place of publication or existence (in a library or with individuals or references that co-refer to such 'divan'); the poets and number of 'divans' of each poet; the poet's biography and upbringing; sources and references documenting the biography and for the dictionary.
