Electronic transmission through quantum wier containing hetero junctions

By means of mode-matching and transfer matrix methods, we calculate the transmission of an electron passing through quantum wire consisting of several barrier potentials.

We take into account the spacedependent electron effective mass and the coupling between components of the motion of an electron in directions parallel and perpendicular to the interfaces of barriers.

Our results show that the coupling effect leads to significant changes on the transmission spectra.

In addition, the variation of the geometrical dimensions is investigated.
