We will show, by the personification of this machine, the means by which the actual aggressive character in life this what the alembic and the effects it will leave on its victims and especially the world of the workers.

Our research covered by this figure of speech (personification), to protest the draft Zola clearly denounce the ravages of alcoholism in the working class.

We saw a need to study how Zola, a naturalist novelist of the nineteenth century, produced, in his novel »l›Assommoir», the transforming of particular reality to personifications that tend toward the symbol and appear in mythological monstrous, fantastic, epic, psychological and religious visions which aims for criticizing damaged society of his time.

L›alambic est l›appareil producteur de l›alcool, placé dans l›assommoir qui joue un rôle symbolique essentiel dans le roman.

Nous montrerons, par la personnification de cet appareil, les moyens par lesquels le réel fait vivre cet agressif personnage qu›est l›alambic et les effets qu›il va laisser sur ses victimes et tout particulièrement sur le monde des ouvriers.Notre recherche a visé, par cette figure de style (la personnification), de manifester le projet de Zola de dénoncer clairement les ravages de l‘alcoolisme dans la classe ouvrière.

Nous avons vu nécessaire d›étudier comment Zola romancier et naturaliste du XIXe siècle produit, dans son roman »l›Assommoir», la transformation d›une réalité particulière en personnifications qui tendent vers le symbole, se présentent en visions monstrueuses mythologiques, fantastiques, épiques, psychologiques et religieuse et s›occupent d›une critique de la société abimée de son époque.
