Chronic puerperal uterine inversion : a case report

We report an uncommon case of chronic puerperal uterine inversion.

Our case is a 24-year-old patient, para three full term normal vaginal deliveries, presented to the outpatient clinic at Prince Hashem Hospital in Zarka with a history of abnormal vaginal bleeding and anemia since her last delivery two months ago.

A thorough clinical examination and radiological investigation including ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed chronic, complete (Stage II) puerperal uterine inversion.

The patient was treated surgically (Haultain procedure) and followed in our clinic.

Hysterosalpingography was performed six months after surgery, which showed normal size and shape uterus and patent fallopian tubes.

After three years she got pregnant and delivered by an elective cesarean section.
