The definitions of text and discourse have multiplied according to the vision and perspective of each researcher.

In this research there is a study of the science of the text or discourse, an attempt to root and trace its roots in our Arabic literature, a review of the tools of linkage and textual consistency, their role in the coherence of the text, and an applied aspect of this study, on a poetic text from the Umayyad era.

I chose to choose a text from ancient Arabic poetry for a personal desire, since I am a fan of ancient literature, and since this science had roots and beginnings in our ancient literature, it is easy to apply these elements to that literature.

The earth looks up to the light of the sky, and his ambushes, secrets, hopes and feelings remain rooted in old and new literature books.
