This study addresses the concept of bad death linked tot he dead child in roman Africa.
Historical sources but also ethnographical works have repeatedly focused on the that this category of the society had aroused following a premature death, which has led some archeological, dealing with unexplanable rites to corroborate the hypothesis of bad death.
We will try, in what follows, to determine, whether this concept coul apply to roman Africa, through the case oft he eastern necropolis of Sitifis, during the ancient burial phase

Cette étude aborde la notion de mauvaise mort liée à l'enfant en Afrique romaine.
Les sources mais aussi les travaux ethnographiques ont maintes fois évoqué la crainte que pouvait susciter cette catégorie fragile de la société suite à son décès prématuré, ce qui a quelquefois servi à corroborer, auprès des archéologues, l'hypothèse de la mauvaise mort.
Nous tenterons dans ce qui va suivre de déterminer si cette notion, qui fait encore débat bien que de moins en moins accréditée, pourrait s'appliquer à l'Afrique romaine, à travers le cas de la nécropole orientale de Sitifis durant la phase d'inhumation ancienne.
