A Maqasid Approach to the Prophetic Sunnah: Hadith on Epidemic and Disease as an ExampleThis research aims to highlight the nature of the Islamic Maqasid approach to the sacred Prophetic Sunnah, as explained by both the Fiqh scholars and the Hadith narrators, with focus on Hadith related to epidemic and disease.

To achieve this, the researcher first manages to present Maqasid Al-Shari'ah (objectives of Islamic Law), the levels of research within, in addition to the constraints on the application of the research perspectives.

After that, the researcher discusses contagion and plague in light of the Prophet Muhammad's teachings (Hadith), with a special emphasis on the approaches followed by Fiqh and Hadith scholars towards a detailed, evident reasoning behind Maqasid Al-Shari'ah in this topic.

In fulfillment of this goal, the researcher relied on the inductive reasoning method in collecting the Hadith material, derived from the Hadith commentaries and several sources on the fundamentalism Maqasid research, then he sought to analyze the collected material ending with the employment of the Maqasid reasoning in works of the ijtihad scholars, considering the contemporary views on the topic.

In conclusion, the researcher introduces a thorough description of the reasoning of Maqasid Al-Shari'ah, providing its constraints within the Prophetic Sunnah and directing attention to two prominent approaches to the Maqasid reasoning, one of which deals with the general reasoning and the second with the detailed one.

In light of this study, the researcher reviews the selected Hadith on the topics of contagion and plague, with a particular consideration of the scholars' views on the Maqasid reasoning within these two areas, so that the approaches to the Maqasid reasoning are clearly demonstrated, with the ultimate purpose of keeping up with current worldwide needs while still being attached to the Islamic fundamentalism and jurisprudential standards.
