The current study is concerned with analyzing and investigating ideologies in Marquez's Tuesday Siesta as encoded by certain semantic structures following van Dijk's (1995) linguistic model of ideology.

Through lexical and linguistic analysis, the present study also showed a type of ''clashing ideologies'' between Mrs.
