Written production is one of the most complex human intellectual activities.

Mastering it requires not only commitment and hard work on the part of the apprentice writer, but also motivation and a sense of observation from those who practice it with ease.

This paper is a practical research hich aims to identify the representations of writing and drafting among Algerian students enrolled in the first year LMD.

If, in order to write well, the writer mobilizes his learned knowledge and rewrites his texts ceaselessly, the novice can overcome his difficulties and improve his writings if they are inspired by the way of performing the expert.

The results obtained show that the draft constitutes the pivotal stage by which modifications and rewrites are authorized.

الملخص FRE

La production écrite est l'une des activités intellectuelles humaines les plus complexes.

Sa maitrise exige non seulement un engagement et du labeur de la part de l'apprenti-scripteur mais aussi de la motivation assortie d'un sens de l'observation de ceux qui la pratiquent avec aisance.

Le présent papier est une recherche pratique qui vise l'identification des représentations de l'écriture et du brouillon chez les étudiants algériens inscrits en première année LMD.

Si pour bien écrire, l'écrivain mobilise son savoir savant et réécrit sans cesse ses textes, le novice peut parvenir à surmonter ses difficultés et à améliorer ses écrits s'ils s'inspirent de la manière de procéder de l'expert.

Les résultats obtenus montrent que le brouillon constitue l'étape charnière par laquelle les modifications et les réécritures sont autorisées.
