The idea of submitting the Algerian education system to a study on the issue of citizenship and education came after reviewing many studies on the cognitive content of civic education programs at primary and middle levels and dimensions they take.
Through this article, we try to clarify the nature of the meanings taken by the concept of citizenship in Algeria and to compare it to the new concepts of citizenship in Western societies.

L'idée de soumettre le système éducatif algérien à une étude sur la question de la citoyenneté et l'éducation, est venue après avoir passé en revue de nombreuses études sur le contenu cognitif des programmes d'éducation civique aux niveaux primaire et moyen et les dimensions qu'ils prennent.
À travers cet article, nous essayons de clarifier la nature des significations prises par le concept de citoyenneté en Algérie et de le comparer aux nouveaux concepts de citoyenneté dans les sociétés occidentales.
