Globalization, marginality and the specter of the superfluous man

The opposition to globalization is better at pointing out the inequities that arise from the process than at providing a counter logic.

This article attempts to provide such a logic, including structural reasons for why globalization induces a polarization of society, between functional elites and a growing marginalized class comprised of the functionally superfluous.

Not only does such a condition offend normal notions of equity.

It also induces social and political pathologies tlwt are difficult to ameliorate and contribute to social and political conflicts.
