Synthesis and crystal structures of some new metal (ii)‎ complexes with nno functionalized ligands

Complexes of the general formula [ML2] [M = Ni, Zn, Cu; L = 2- pyridinecarbaldehyde benzoylhydrazone (HPBH, 3a), 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde isonicotinoylhydrazone (HPIH, 3b), 2-pyridinecarbaldehyde 2'-thienoylhydrazone (HPTH, 3c)] were synthesized by reaction of metal-acetate in boiling methanol with the ligands 3a-c in 2:1 ligand to metal mole ratio.

X-ray crystallographic investigation of the three complexes (PBH)2Ni (4a), (PIH)2Ni (4b) and (PIH)2Zn (6b) is reported.

All three compounds crystallize in the triclinic space group P? and Z = 2 at 173 K with a = 11.374(9)?, b = 11.596(7)?, c = 11.727(7)?, ? = 105.60(4)° , ? = 104.30(5)°, ? = 104.98(6)° for (PBH)2Ni (4a); for (PIH)2Ni (4b), a = 11.188(9)?, b =11.445(7)?, c = 12.004(7)?, ? = 107.04(4)°, ? = 103.44(5)°, ? = 105.11(6)° and for (PIH)2Zn (6b), a = 11.222(9)?, b = 11.501(7)?, c = 12.045(7)?, ? = 106.63(4)°, ? = 102.92(5)°, ? = 106.09(6)°.

The metal centers in these complexes are surrounded by two ligand molecules in a meridional, slightly distorted octahedral manner.
