Selectivity in learning : a case study of EFL students in Kurdistan region-Iraq

This research considers the selectivity in learning in Kurdish EFL classes.

it attempted to measure the extent to which Kurdish university students of English are selective in learning.

it also examined whether the five types of selectivity are considered learning obstacles to Kurdish students or not.

the research used a questionnaire to collect data from the 149 participants of the study and used SPSS software for the data analysis.

the results of the analysis revealed that Kurdish students of English are highly selective in learning and that the five types of selectivity are learning obstacles in the way of the students.

however, the study showed individual differences among the participants as far as selectivity is concerned.

the study suggested a number of recommendations to help students overcome the learning obstacles caused by selectivity.
