This paper examines graffiti as a social and linguistic practice that helps to regulate public space.
The expansion of this practice shows discursive strategies which express public space by placing the “language fact” in the logic of action and interaction.
To explore this field, I have relied on empirical data (graffiti images and semi-directive interviews) collected during an in-depth case study conducted in Dar El Hayet neighbourhood (Oran).
Findings reveal that Dar El Hayet’s graffiti operate as a graphic order which highlights the urban dynamics through which social relations and social power are revealed and (re)produced.
الملخص FRE
La présente contribution examine les gramti comme une pratique sœcio-langagière qui participe réguler les espaces habités.
Le déploiement de cette pratique met en scène des stratégies discursives qui consistent à dire ces espaces et se dire dans ces mêmes espaces en plaçant le fait langagier dans une logique d'action et dinteraction.
Pour explorer ce terrain, je me suis appuyé sur des données empiriques (clichés photographiques et entretiens semi-directifs) constituées à Dar El Hayet (Oran).
Les graffiti de cette Cité opèrent comme un ordre scriptural qui donne corps aux dymamiques urbaines à trai.ers lesquelles se révèlent les rapports socialLX.
