الملخص EN

Objective : The aim of this prospective, double-blinded study was to compare the effect of cold propofol or premixing it with lignocaine on the intensity of pain which is frequently associated with its intravenous injection.

Methods : Three groups of patients were studied.

Each group consisted of 30 patients.

Group A had propofol premixed with normal saline maintained at room temperature, group Bhad cold propofol injected, group C had propofol premixed with O.lmg / kg lignocaine at room temperature.

Results : Cold propofol was associated with high incidence of injection pain, while premixing propofol with lignocaine (0.1 mg / kg) decreased the incidence of pain p < 0.001, as well as the incidence of excitatory side effects.

Conclusion : Premixing propofol with lignocaine significantly decreased the incidence of pain and excitatory side effects.
