A study of mental functioning, of patients suffering from a fairly serious somatic desease: the Behcet’s disease, was carried out using data from 22 clinical interwiews.
The results show that to somatic disorganisations correspond reduced qualities of subject’s mental defences.
At best, a very limited number is organised following a structure called character neurosis, according to the I.P.S.O.
(P.
MARTY) nosology.
Otherwise, the majority of these patients is classified whithin the category of behavioural neurosis, characterised by a major psychic fragility.
The research indicates that it is would be useless to reduce therapy to its pharmacological aspect.
It seems necessary to mobilise or to remobilise these subject’s weak mental defences.
الملخص FRE
A partir de 22 entretiens individuels on étudie le fonctionnement mental de patients atteints d’une maladie somatique assez grave : le Behcet.
Les résultats indiquent qu’aux désorganisations somatiques correspondent des qualités réduites des défenses mentales de ce groupe de sujets.
Au mieux un nombre très limité est organisé suivant une structure dite névrose de caractère bien mentalisèe, selon la nosographie de l’I.P.S.O.
(P.
MARTY).
Sinon la majorité de ces malades est classée dans la catégorie des névroses de comportement, caractérisées par une fragilité psychique majeure.
Ce travail indique qu’il serait sans doute vain de réduire la thérapeutique à son aspect chimique.
Il semble indispensable de mobiliser ou de remobiliser chez ces sujets leurs faibles défenses mentales.
