The article deals with the first part of a research conducted in the past on the subject of scholastic inadaptation.

The complexity and the ambiguity of the inadaptation concept and its corresponding notion of adaptation in the literature provide the main reason for trying to deal in more depth with these concepts on the basis of the main element of the educational system: the teacher.

The study of the different protocols of a sample of teachers has enabled the researchers to analyse the teacher’s representation of the adapted and inadapted scholar and to compare the contents of those representations.
