This article starts by delineating the process of preserving the popular heritage and then surveys activities of collectiong texts and materials of the Palestinian Popular Heritage eversince 1850 by investigating the following roles: 1 Role of Orientalists.

2 Role of interested individuals.

Role of Heritage Establishements The article, then , elaborates on this last third title showing that there are six establishments, most famous among them “ ln’ash al - Usra (Society of Family Rehabilitation)^ al - Bireh This sociey is the oldest (established in 1965) and largest one .

and because of this, the article lays special emphasis on it and on its efforts in collecting heritage texts and materials, the establishing of a popular heritage museum, the publication of heritage studies as well as a bi - annual heritage magazine The article is concluded by seven suggestions for promoting the proccss of heritage preservation
