The level of self-esteem and its relation to mental health in the retired elderly |

The study aimed to identify the level of self-esteem and its relation to mental health in older persons who retired from work according to a number of variables (gender, age, marital status).

The study was applied to a sample of 38 retirees, 22 femeles and 16 males.

After analyzing the data obtained using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) program, the results of the study showed that:
- There is a significant relationship between self-esteem and the mental health of older persons retire from work.

- There is no significant correlation between middle self-esteem and the mental health older persons retire from work.

- There is no significant correlation between low self-esteem and the mental health older persons retire from work.

According to these results we can conclude that the general hypothesis was realized by 33% , which is the level required for obtaining significant relationship between self-esteem and the mental health of older persons who retire from work.
