The research aims to address the linguistic tense in Arabic language and its concept, comparing it with the concept of time in French language.
When looking at French language, we find that linguists classify eight linguistic tenses that can be clearly expressed.
As for Arabic language, linguists only mention two forms: the perfect and the non-perfect, so that it has become common for French linguists to classify the actual system in Arabic language as a system that depends on ‘aspect’ and not on time.
Ancient and contemporary linguists, as well as orientalists, differed in defining these two forms.
Sometimes they give them a time value and some other times they give them an aspect value.
Based on our belief in the importance of this aspect for language scholars or translators, we will present a historical, analytical, critical and theoretical study of this subject, which is still controversial, despite the attempt of some linguists to address it.

cet article vise à aborder le temps linguistique en langue arabe et son concept par rapport au concept de temps en français.
En ce qui a trait au français, les linguistes ont classé par huit temps linguistiques qui peuvent être clairement exprimées.
En arabe, les linguistes ne mentionnent que deux, à savoir complets et incomplets.
Il est même courant que les linguistes français classent le système actuel en arabe comme un système aspectuel plutôt que temporel.
Les linguistes anciens et contemporains, ainsi que les orientalistes, différaient dans la définition de ces deux formes, leur donnant une valeur temporelle et une autre fois ils leur donnaient une valeur aspectuelleIl.
ce travail a été divisé en trois sections : les anciens linguistes arabes, les orientalistes et les linguistes arabes contemporains.
Dans cette étude, basée sur notre conviction de l'importance de cet aspect, pour les apprenants de langues ou les traducteurs, nous présenterons une étude historique, analytique, critiqueet théorique de ce sujet.
