This study aims to clarify Ta’awuniya Insurance Company’s investment fund, by examining the compliance of its investment activities to Sharīʿah provisions as governing law.

It also observes the contractual methods that the company utilizes to deal with its assets, investment risk diversification, and other investment challenges faced by the company.

The significance of the study lies in the fact that the company stands out as the first and largest insurance provider in the Saudi cooperative insurance market.

The study applied on the descriptive inductive approach by collecting various opinions and statements expressed by the scholars and researchers related to cooperative insurance investment in the Kingdom.

Furthermore, the study also relied on the analytical approach to analyze the company’s practices regarding its investment funds.

The study has reached some important conclusions regarding the implementation of Sharīʿah provisions in the Ta’awuniya investment fund which is based on the agency contract (Wakālah).

The study confirms that the company complies with Sharīʿah parameters and supervisory rules over the investment activities overseen by the Shariyah Review Bureau (SRB) as Sharīʿah advisory entity.

The study recommends that it’s necessary to build up and innovate new investment tools to keep pace with continuous developments in various aspects of the insurance field, this would help to hedge against some investment risks, and fill out the unanticipated deficit of the fund, provided that these innovations must be in line with Sharīʿah parameters.
