This study examined the mediational role of achievement goal orientations (2x2 model) in the associations between parenting styles and academic achievement.

The sample included 640 tenth-grade students from the Sultanate of Oman.

The students completed measures regarding their perception of parenting styles (Alkharusi et al., 2011) and achievement goal orientations (2x2 model) (Alkharusi & Aldhafri, 2010).

To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher utilized the AMOS25 software.

The findings showed that achievement goal orientations mediated the relations between perception of parenting styles and academic achievement through seven statistically significant paths.

Direct and indirect effects explained 37% of variance in students’ academic achievement.

The findings highlight the importance that parenting styles, in interrelation with achievement goal orientations (2x2 model), play in the high school students' academic achievement.
