When we talk about the concept of body schema, we are not only facing a central concept in the psychology and education sciences, but we will also be facing a fundamental issue, which is related to a wide spectrum of activities and performance skills.

Among them in particular, that relates to the psychomotor side; Consequently, any deficiency in building this body Schema would be reflected in these performance skills.

Based on this worth of the Body Schema as a concept and as an ability, we try in the current paper to form an integrated picture of the emergence history of this term and the scientific discussion that accompanied it, in addition to identifying the precise conceptual components that were associated with this term after its stability in the psychological dictionary, without ignoring its features Which highlights it as an entity independent of the analogous term (Body Image).

In order to achieve these goals, we relied in this paper on a theoretical analysis of some of the most important literature that dealt with the term from the moment it appeared in the scientific arena, right up to the last days and months preceding the writing of these lines.

This process of analysis and recombination resulted in a theoretical construction based initially on tracing the history of the emergence and development of the term body schema, beginning with the work of the French otologist Pierre Bonnier (1861-1918), who is considered the first to invoke this term.

In addition to providing a definition of the body schema based on its three dimensions: (the perception of the body as an integrated unit; the recognition of the various parts of the body; the spatial orientation), which later formed the basic components of the growth and development pathways of the body schema.

Without neglecting to talk about the fact that the body schema is distinguished from the body image -(of which is related to the socio-psychological dimension)- by being related to the neurocognitive dimension.
