Due to their advantages, most of the modern bridges, buildings, towers, and offshore structures consist of composite concrete-steel structures.

One of the most important applications of the composite structures is the concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns.

The behavior of structural elements must be fully understood in order to analyze and design the composite structures.

The accurate prediction of the axial strength of CFST columns is an important requirement in the design process.

Many researchers have investigated the structural behavior of various shapes of CFST columns using different techniques.

This paper presents a review for the experimental and theoretical procedures proposed previously for the axially loaded short CFST columns.

It is found that the focus of the available literature is on the circular and square (rectangular) sections.
