Abstract.

this research aims to identify the general characteristic of ego strength and emotional stability in diabetic patients in Omdurman City and to know the correlation between the two variables.

Besides identifying the differences in the ego strength that are attributed to the gender and the illness duration variables.

The researcher employed the descriptive correlational approach.

The sample included (119) diabetic patients, (54) are males, (59) are females, they were selected by the simple random sampling technique.

The researcher utilized the ego strength and emotional stability scales.

The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient, one sample T-test, T-test for two independent samples and one-way analysis of variance.

The research results showed that: the general characteristic of ego strength and emotional stability in diabetic patients in Omdurman City is low.

There is a correlation between ego strength and emotional stability in diabetic patients in Omdurman City.

There are differences in ego strength among diabetic patients in Omdurman City attributed to the gender variable in favor of females.

There is no differences in ego strength among diabetic patients in Omdurman City attributed to the illness duration.

Finally, based on these results, the researcher made some recommendations, the most important are: establishing multidisciplinary approach to treating diabetic patients to cover all aspects, especially psychological, social, and emotional.
