Mohamed Zernouh, nicknamed el Hourani was born in 1924, in the region of Djelfa.

At a young age, he enlisted in the French army where he was posted to the military post of el-Hourane (M’Sila).

After his initial contact with the FLN, he was offered his support for the attack on that camp, which he accepted.

On February 4, 1958, an operation was mounted by the officials of region I of zone II of wilaya III for the seizure of the post of el-Hourane with the support of Mohamed Zernouh.

The success was total.

The ALN seized a large arsenal of war and a number of French prisoners.

Mohamed Zernouh joined the PC of Wilaya III where he was rewarded by Colonel Amirouche.

Then, he was assigned to wilaya III shock battalion.

A few months later, he became the first person in charge after the death of Lahlou Hocine.

In 1959, Mohamed Zernouh carried out a mission in Wilaya I with his battalion for almost a year.

After returning to Kabylia, he died, weapons in hand, near el-Kseur in April 1960.

Mohamed Zernouh dit el Hourani est né en 1924, dans la région de Djelfa.

Tout jeune, il s'engagea dans l'armée française où il fut affecté au poste militaire d'el-Hourane (M'Sila).

Après ses premiers contacts avec le FLN, on lui proposa son soutien pour l'attaque de ce camp ce qu'il accepta.

Le 04 février 1958, une opération est montée par les responsables de la région I de la zone II de la wilaya III pour la prise du poste d'el-Hourane avec le soutien de Mohamed Zernouh.

Le succès est total.

L'ALN s'empara d'un arsenal de guerre important et d'un nombre de prisonniers français.

Mohamed Zernouh rejoint le pc de la wilaya III où il est récompensé par le colonel Amirouche.

Il est affecté ensuite au bataillon de choc de la wilaya III.

Quelques mois après, il est devenu son premier responsable après la mort de Lahlou Hocine.

En 1959, Mohamed Zernouh effectua une mission en wilaya I avec son bataillon durant presque une année.

Après son retour en Kabylie, il mourut les armes à la main, près d'el-Kseur en avril 1960.
