الملخص EN

This study aimed to identify the impact of the participatory design method and its effectiveness in the development of rural and peripheral areas, especially in Sudan.

from the perspective of industrial design (form, function, use, environment friendly).

the study was applied to samples of project models where participatory design was used in different parts of Sudan.

the importance of this study is to evaluate the samples and provide researchers and those interested in the importance of choosing the appropriate method before starting the design process, because it is one of the few studies that concernes the need to involve the beneficiaries and take their views to achieve the desired goal; it also gives an indication to the direction of the design pattern in the future and how to properly practice the design process, especially in the Sudanese scientific institutions can be used as references in promoting, changing or developing new methods of design.

we hope that this study will help to find out if there is a need to organize some courses and workshops in design areas that can contribute to raise designers scientific efficiency.
