Literature is considered a social reflection before it is a linguistic activity; This is because society is a basic reference for the creative process that derives from the lived reality as a starting point, and then literature comes as a final product of a combination of multiple societal factors.

Therefore, poetry was a mirror of the poet's life and time, and a reflection of his personal experience that embodies his vision of reality and life, with its crises and psychological, intellectual and emotional dimensions, Ibn Lancac Al-Basri was a poet whose effort prevented him from reaching his goal, and one of the poets who witnessed these crises and dimensions; And then alienation came in his poetry as a means to criticize the lived reality, and an attempt to preserve his human features and a trick to achieve spiritual security for himself, Accordingly; The aim of this research is to study the alienation in the poetry of Ibn Lancac Al-Basri, and to study its dimensions which were represented in: normlessness "anomia", meaninglessness, aimlessness, powerlessness, and self-estrangement.

And study its stimuli which was divided into: external stimuli, represented in: social alienation, and environmental alienation in both its temporal and spatial aspects.

And internal stimuli, represented in: emotional alienation, psychological alienation, and then studying the mechanisms of Defense in his poetry, which was represented in: sublimation, agression, introjection, regression, repression, isolation, and withdrawal, Those mechanics that contributed, greatly, to distorting his reality, and helped him in Getting rid of psychological crises and situations of tension, anxiety and confusion that resulted from successive frustrations and conflicts; Desiring to protect and defend himself on the one hand, and in order to achieve psychological and spiritual security on the other hand, This; As well as studying the impact of poetic language, its methods and phenomena, the image, and internal music, on shaping the aesthetics of alienation for him.

And this is all linked to his personal experience and his vision of reality and life.
