In modern times, voices have come to call for humanity, social peace and Islam is the first to call for them; and even apply them within the framework of citizenship unity; to revive all citizens in an atmosphere of intimacy, love and cooperation, without aggression.

in this way, peaceful coexistence and national unity are achieved, and human bonds are strengthened.

some of them have falsified facts and falsified history to distort the image of the Islamic religion, accusing him of severity and intransigence, and that he imposed himself by force on the lives of non-Muslims, during their Islamic conquests, to nullify their religious and historical personalities.

in fact, non-Muslims, particularly the people of the book, have lived with Muslims for centuries safe, enjoying all the rights of citizenship, just like Muslims; this is thanks to the generosity and greatness of the Islamic religion, in its treatment of those who oppose it in belief, which humanity has not known for that grace, throughout human history.

if we look at the Islamic societies today, we find that the people who participate most in citizenship are the people of the book, especially the Christians, which necessitated the existence of various relations and transactions between them, which requires knowing the position of Islamic Shariah regarding it, standing on its ruling, and clarifying an important aspect of the social eminence of the Islamic religion, which is its observance of the rights of citizenship with non-Muslims, who did not fight them, nor allied with their enemies against them.

accordingly, this study discussed the most important human rights in Islamic shariah, addressed the statement of the social rights of non-Muslim citizens, and then it concluded the most important rights of the people of the book in Islamic Shariah.

the study was treated in a jurisprudential way, supported by evidence, and the opinions of jurists documented from its original sources, with a balance between them, and linked them to contemporary reality.
