The study reviews the reality of data management in informatics institutions, specifically Tikrit University as a model for the study, by conducting a survey of all departments and centers of university presidency, and getting to know the opinion of directors of departments and centers in them about the reality of data management.

The study also included identifying views of employees of departments and centers of Tikrit University presidency who working in data management fields, and diagnosing weaknesses that effect on quality of data and how to develop it.

The study concluded that the Tikrit University institution has suffers the following in data management: 1.

The university, as an information institution, did not rely on an approved data management system according to scientific and practical foundations, and helps to make administrative, scientific and technical decisions.2.

Low performance of department and center managers (Study sample) in terms of their knowledge and dependence on modern data management systems.3.

Weakness of the Tikrit University Presidency staff (Study sample) working in the field of data management and overcoming the difficulties they face.4.

The inefficiency of the devices and software used in the field of data management in order to achieve the speed of storage, processing and retrieval of data and in a manner that preserves the data from damage and loss.
