Grammatical challenges in Arabic-English translation for bilinguals

The focus of this study is on the grammatical challenges that Saudi students have when translating.

The researcher utilized a descriptive analytical method to detect significant grammatical errors in the translation.

This study used a validated test of written Arabic text as a tool to gather information about the research problem from a sample of twenty undergraduate students from the boys' section of Al Baha University's College of Arts in Beljurshi, who were males and enrolled in the second semester of 2019, majoring in the English language.

The data was evaluated, and the grammatical problems were identified and divided into distinct groups.

According to the data, the verb received a score of 24.7%, the verb to be received a score of 16.9%, the preposition received a score of 65.7%, the demonstratives received a score of 5%, and the article received a score of 60.5%.

The preposition category had the highest error rate, at 65%, while the total number of grammatical problems was 175%.The study also indicates that students were unable to identify differences in rules between the English and Arabic languages.
